“Trail To Life Camp is a camping program founded in 1959 by a group of young men in Ohio. The program ran successfully in Greenwich, Ohio for over 25 years. TTLC was co-founded by current SHI Executive Board member Chet Weigle. When SHI was founded in 2010, Dr. David Atkins, SHI founder and Executive Director, adapted the TTLC program to children in Asia. Trail To Life Camp is a week-long camping experience for children where boy scout camp meets sports camp meets church camp. At Trail To Life Camp, outdoor skills such as knot-tying, fire building, map and compass reading are taught. There are lots of sporting events taking place such as basketball, soccer, volleyball and kick ball. There are classes on first aid, life skills and how to understand the Bible. There is lots of competition each day between each of our six cabins (teams). It is a life-changing week for all who attend!
Each year, in April, we offer our Trail To Life Camp program at our camp facility in Thailand to over 100 Thai and hill tribe children. Our Thai staff is assisted by short term teams from the USA and Canada. It is always a wonderful week and many lives are impacted! In the past 6 years, we have had over 500 children attend our camp!
